Try To Fall Asleep is an indie horror game that has taken my Theorist brain by storm. Since playing it, I HAD to do a theory. The story revolves around our player character, a man tormented by hallucinations while awake AND asleep. We have to try to fall asleep for our own good, or so our Doctor says. I am going to piece together all of the puzzle pieces of our time awake and dreaming to figure out what is going on at the CENTER of this awesome horror game. Let's go!

btw these events are common especially in the woody provinces of the Philippines where most Bewitching activities happen ( Barang ) which can cause Nightmare Death ( Bangungut ) or other anomalous and mysterious curses

    28. Because I JustCan'tSleep

Can confirm about the bug hallucination. I didn't sleep for a week because I had sleep paralysis every night as a kid that progressively got more and more terrifying. In class on about day 5 or 6 of not having any sleep, save for the occasional 4 or 5 minute fall asleep standing up moment, I saw a shadow that looked like a spider crawling across my desk heading towards the edge of my desk. I hit the desk really hard and hurt my hand, and my teacher and the other kids were confused (probably because I hit the desk almost at full force). I just said it was a bug and we moved on with the lesson. I don't remember much else about that week, except for going in and out of being cognitive. For example, I remember coming to on my back porch after falling asleep standing up, but I don't remember the events before or shortly after that. I remember almost falling asleep at one point in the night and experiencing a terrifying sleep paralysis episode that was so realistic that I screamed until my throat was raw and everyone in the house had woken up. It was so weird because I only ever had sleep paralysis in my own house. If I slept at the neighbors I was fine, same for friends places too. I moved out of there over the summer and I haven't had an episode since.

I wouldn't be surprised if we find out at the end that John is actually a "lab rat" himself. Those "brain damages" and memory loss could very much be inflicted by the Doctor. If we think a lot, in psychiatric facilities, before we had our current, more humaine treatments, some of the "techniques" used on patients, had to do with electricity and your brain. What if they did that to John, to either cure something...or to just test something on him. Many times, mentally ill patients were used as test subjects. The same goes for death row inmates. The room we are in, could possibly be a replicate of his own room, to make the subject feel more at ease. The robot talking, could be a monitoring device. They could be inducing the nightmares with a mix of some medicine. Playing with Serotonin and Neuroepinefrin could do that. Like in Until Dawn!! The brothers get treated for wrong illness, gets auditory and visual hallucinations. Same thing applies here, but it just happens on purpose... Or it could just be a Theory!! 😁

    35. Safebox Gaming

Addendum: there is a group of people with a genetic disease called "fatal familial insomnia". These people cannot fall asleep even with strong anaesthetics, sleeping pills, etc. The disease manifests around their late 20s, early 30s and death is certain within 18 months. Edit: never mind, you mentioned it by the time I posted this comment :L

    36. BananaSims

Isn't sleep paralysis normal for everyone? I always thought being unable to move while seeing a horrible monster that's either staring at you or slowly approaching you as you try your best to move... is normal because I often experience it... Also when I have them and I manage to move I often fall back to sleep and it repeats again and it's srsly annoying

    74. Amethyst Gacha

Don’t worry guys it’s just the scary demon from my sleep paralysis episode

    75. ALRB❤

Bangungut. "Bang-gu-gut." Me, a Filipino: Close enough.

    77. Nie Mand

Alright fellas, my phone was pressed against my palm, I somehow opened the google assistent who understood "all the stories" from the overlap of the applications before toutube stopped and it started telling one of these motivational stories with "once upon a time people dreamed, when they woke up..." i am not okay

    78. Andy Chimmy

Oh at 3:58 I'm a Filipino. And I am already experienced bangungut before and it was realley scary to the point that I don't want to fall asleep again.
